We are in the midst of the Novena in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with inspiring reflections from Father Terence Cyr, O.Carm. One of the themes he has offered us so far is to consider Mary as the first Carmelite hermits did back in the early 1200s on Mount Carmel. Before using the title of Mary in reference to Mt. Carmel they first called her “The Lady of the Place.” Father “Terry” recalled how all Carmelites have Mary as “The Lady of the Place”: in our chapels, monasteries, our cells (private rooms), and especially our hearts. He encouraged us all to make use of this special recognition of Mary in our own lives, and suggested that our collective novena petition be to ask Our Lady of the Place for the grace of true conversion in our own hearts, in those for whom we are praying, and for the whole world. And to “know Jesus as she knows Him, love Him as she loves Him, and serve Him as she serves Him.”
Thus far we have had a good turn out from the parishes, our Secular Carmelite members here in Arkansas, and other faithful “prayer warriors.” You can still send your prayer requests to us through postal mail or to our email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we would love to see you in our chapel!
Stayed tuned for more updates as we continue our prayers to Our Lady of Mount Carmel the next five days.
