Carmelite Bulletin and Novena

Seems we’ve all had a long break, and still the Coronavirus keeps us apart physically, though not spiritually. If you haven’t received our latest Bulletin please take a look and a read!

Hopefully you are having a splendid summer in the beautiful outdoors somewhere, outside your house, right? We pray you are able to enjoy your family gatherings, even with whatever restrictions you have to bear with. As you will see in our bulletin, we have done our “normal” things here in the monastery cloister. Thankfully, no one of us has been ill, and we are all very careful.

We are so happy to have just started public masses again in our chapel, and tonight, July 8th, we begin the annual public Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel! Please join us here if possible or from home join us in prayer. We will follow the mandated restrictions from our state and diocese in the chapel, so masks and distancing will be necessary.

Our bishop Anthony B. Taylor and Rev. Erik Pohlmeier will be taking different nights as Celebrant and Homilist. We are very grateful! Rev. Pohlmeier is just beginning his new assignment in the largest parish in the greater Little Rock area at Christ the King Parish and School.

Please join us in prayer from July 8th – July 16th, the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with the following prayers:

Prayer for Vocations, by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor

Heavenly Father, remind us that when we pray “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” we commit ourselves to do your will, whatever that may be. Free us from the temptation to do our own will rather than your will! Give those you call to the priesthood and religious life the courage to embrace your will with generosity and self-sacrificing love. Remove their fears and fill our hearts with gratitude that despite our unworthiness, you would entrust to them a role so great and necessary in your plan of salvation. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

0 most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God,  Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this, my necessity. 0 Star of the Sea, help me, and  show me herein that you are my Mother. 0 Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you to help me in this necessity. Oh, show me in this need that you are my Mother.

V. Our Lady, Queen and Beauty of Carmel,

R. Pray for us and obtain our requests.
