Discalced Carmelite Nuns National Meeting

Dear Friends,

So sorry it’s been awhile since we’ve posted.  I am still learning how to do this!

You will see in our coming bulletin that some of us (five lucky nuns from our Carmel) were blessed to attend a meeting in St. Louis with about 170 other OCD Nuns from all over the country, a few from Canada, and one from Finland.  We came together to meet with our Father General Saverio Canistra, Father Rafal Wilkowski (his secretary) and a Definitor of the Carmelite Order Father Daniel Chowning. The topics for discussion were on the recent Apostolic Constitution on Women’s Contemplative life ‘Vultum Dei Quaerere’.

What an experience it was to meet so many of St. Teresa’s daughters, all sharing the same charism and spirituality. To put faces to many Carmels we’ve heard of and never met in person was a gift, and to be with other sisters we have known from past meetings brought stronger bonds of sisterly love.  Our Father General commented that he had not ever been with so many sisters together in one place, and that the extraordinary number shows how much we all desire to learn and grow together in our way of life.
