Our Carmel is a small monastery located in Little Rock, Arkansas, on 22 acres of wooded land. Come visit us for daily Mass and our novenas we hold throughout the year.
As a service to our diocese and beyond, we distribute altar bread to the diocese of Little Rock and a few other parishes and churches, including those of other Christian denominations. Our greatest joy is to labor in the vineyard of the Lord as those who offer lives of prayer in many forms throughout the day on behalf of the Church and the world.
Them I will bring to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar, for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. Isaiah 56:7
A Religious Vocation is a special call to serve God and the Church in a particular way. In Carmel, it is a radical response to God's call to a hidden life of intimate friendship with Him and unceasing prayer for the Church and the world as envisioned by St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross, reformers of the order.
Carmel is all Mary's; she is our Mother, our Patroness, and our inspiration for a life of prayer "hidden with Christ in God" (Col. 3:3). Our life as contemplatives is closely patterned on Mary's since she is the best example of total dedication to Jesus and His mission of salvation.
